The much anticipated Champions League encounter between the Italian giants Juventus and AS Monaco turned out to be a whimper and didn’t live up to the expectations.
Juventus fielded a formidable eleven with their charismatic playmaker Andrea Pirlo back, but it was the Chilean Arturo Vidal who gave the home side the lead just after half time with a stunning kick from the spot.
The Les Rouge et Blanc manager called the decision ‘unjust’ in the post-match conference but the decision more or less looked spot on.
Early on the visitors wasted a clear chance to take a lead, with Ferreira Carrasco missing from a relatively easy position and towards the end, it was Dimitar Berbatov heading just over the crossbar to sum up the day for Monaco.
The return leg of this fixture is on 22 April 2015.
