The latest edition of the classic action-horror franchise Resident Evil is just around the corner. Capcom announced Resident Evil Village last year at the PlayStation reveal event. Carrying forward its PlayStation connection, Capcom offered a demo to all the PS5 players ahead of the full release.

Set in the Castle Dimitrescu, the demo for the narrative sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard sets a perfect tone for the upcoming release. Moreover, the demo also provided an insight into everything the PS5 has to offer to the game. Players can experience the game at a higher resolution with much faster loading times. Finally, the ray tracing on Ps5 takes the Resident Evil Village gameplay to a whole new level.

Coming back to the storyline, the demo takes players to explore the deepest secrets of Castle Dimitrescu. “The stronghold of the illustrious Alcina Dimitrescu and her bloodthirsty daughters,” as PlayStation puts it, is full of terrors, and players must find a way out of it.

Resident Evil Village demo PS5 features a throwback to RE4

The demo starts with players spawning in one of the rooms of the castle. They begin with a goal to find Rose as players have to find their way out of the room. One has to find various items and interact with objects similar to previous Resident Evil titles and complete the given objectives.

During this journey, players come across a merchant in the castle. They can buy weapons and items from this merchant. However, it is one of the things this merchant says that would make any fan of the Resident Evil franchise nostalgic. Upon interaction with the NPC, he opens by saying, “What’re ya buying? – Haha, just something an old friend of mine used to say.

The merchant from Resident Evil 4 had the exact same dialogue while offering players a sale. Whether this is a mere coincidence or holds a deeper connection will only unravel once the game releases.

PlayStation has confirmed that Resident Evil Village will be arriving at the PS4 and PS5 on May 7, 2021. Moreover, Sony also promises that the difference between the experience of players on either console would be minimal. PlayStation has tried to offer PS4 players an experience as immersive as those on the PS5.
