Astralis is going through something of a roller-coaster of emotions at the moment. Having won the prestigious ESL One just over a week ago, legendary player Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander announced that he was taking a break from Counter Strike Global Offensive. He cited mental exhaustion and stress as the primary reason behind the decision. And now, DBLTAP has reported further bad news for CSGO team’s fans.

CSGO champions facing troubling times

After gla1ve, another member of the roster, Astralis handed the in-game leadership reins to Emil “Magisk” Reif. While they have fared well enough, the turbulent times are far from over for the team. Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth, has also left Astralis, at least temporarily. DBLTAP reports Danny “zonic” Sørensen has replaced Xyp9x in the eSport team’s practice sessions. There is no official confirmation of the development as of yet.

The good news for Astralis and its fans is that it already signed one player in Jakob “JUGi” Hansen earlier in the month. Moreover, reports earlier in the year also revealed that Astralis had signed Patrick “es3tag” Hansen from Heroic. However, es3tag’s contract does not run out until the end of the month.

The Danish CSGO team have tried to renegotiate terms with Heroic to bring es3tag on board earlier, but to no avail. Furthermore, the report claims multiple sources have confirmed that the ESL One champions have contacted Ninjas in Pyjamas in order to sign Jonas “Lekr0” Olofsson.

The Dreamhack Masters Spring is already underway and Astralis finished the group stage with a 2-1 score, losing to G2. The good news, however, is the team’s next match is on June 9. This means they still have a couple of weeks to prepare. We can expect further negotiations to follow during these two weeks as Astralis look for a replacement player for the remainder of the tournament.
