2021 will be a year of fresh beginnings. While Fernando Alonso is making his return, Sebastian Vettel will take to the wheel of Aston Martin next season. However, they will not be the only re-branded team next season as Renault will line up on the grid as Alpine Racing.

Part of the rebrand will also bring a change in livery design and color. And they have teased what it may look like next season on their Instagram platform.

As fans can see, the French manufacturers will shun their traditional yellow and black. Instead, the car will be draped in red, blue, and white. Hence, it will bear a striking resemblance to the French national flag.

‘Alpine’ is basically the sports car brand of the Renault company. F1 is a marketing platform in itself for the teams. Red Bull and its apparel brand ‘AlphaTauri’ are the prime example of that.

Alpine has a previous history in F1

Although they will officially start a race next season under this moniker, their involvement in F1 is not entirely new. Way back in the 1960s, Renault competed in F2 and Le Mans under the Alpine name.

And during that time, they were planning to venture into Formula 1 as well. They made their debut at the Zandvoort track in the Netherlands as a test team.

However, the project was scrapped when their engines could not produce sufficient horsepower to match other competitors.

While that wasn’t to be, this time they are not coming as an experimental team. Rather an established force that wishes to compete at the very top.
