A tied test match is a ridiculously rare event to happen and for that to happen in a full fledged test match is even more rare. To give you an idea of how rare such an event occurs – there have been over 2000 test matches that have been played and out of them only an astounding 2 have been a tied test, a probability of less than 0.1%. This event is in the same leagues as something like a meteor strike or any such other extraordinary events. This makes today very special in the history of cricket.
On this day in 1986, India and Australia were involved in one of such golden test matches. It was a hot and humid day at Chepauk adding to the intensity and pressure of the expectations of the home crowd.
