India’s limited-overs specialist Suresh Raina, on Monday, came out in support of the three cricketers who had been accused of spot fixing in the IPL, saying that they played no role in spot fixing.
Raina’s first visit to his in-laws in Bamnauli was not as private as he would have liked. He was asked to give his views regarding the recent verdict by a Delhi court, discharging cricketers S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing case.
“There is no role of cricketers in such matters and so these allegations do not have any demoralising effect on them,” Raina said.
Everyone will be waiting to see whether these cricketers get a chance to resume cricket and rejuvenate their careers after the latest unfolding of events wherein there was no evidence to prove them guilty.
Raina’s support to the three accused is ironical in a way that even though they have been proven innocent, BCCI hasn’t uplifted the ban on the three players.
