Spanish superstar Rafael Nadal has received many honors throughout his career. That is why it should come as no surprise that he has just been given another one. However, this honor has nothing to do with tennis but rather for his work outside the sport and that is The Rafa Nadal Foundation.

Recently, The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents announced its annual awards. These honors value the efforts of prominent professional figures and institutions in different sections.

The association awarded Rafa this honor to highlight his amazing, but lesser-known, efforts through his foundation. He started it started way back in 2008 and over 12 years, this project has focused on sport and education for children. It is very close to his heart, and that is why we can expect him to continue with it for a long time.

Rafael Nadal going to Rome

At the moment, Rafa has a lot of time for his foundation as he is not playing any events. However, that will change soon as the Italian Open is going to begin on September 14th.

The Spaniard has already confirmed his participation at the event and there he will be going for another astounding record- a 4th ‘La Decima’.

Back in 2017, Rafa achieved the incredible ‘La Decima’ at 3 events – the Monte Carlo Masters, the Barcelona Open, and the French Open. No player is even close to touching this achievement. And that is why it would be astonishing to see him do it at a 4th event.

If this is not enough, there are more records that the Spaniard can set during the clay-court season. One of the biggest could come at this year’s French Open, and it is the total Grand Slam record. He is just one Major away from equaling it and hopefully, he can do it when the event starts on September 27th.
