While obviously being a track leader on the grid can afford one all the plaudits albeit no easy days, it’s never easy being a backmarker- isn’t it? To that end, Racing Point in 2019, despite having the talents of someone like Sergio Peres- 161 races, 8 podiums– are struggling. Are they not?
So one wonders whether Lance Stroll scoring some points would help the outfit that’s seen Perez, who’s scored in 2 of the 3 races?
Even as only 3 Grands Prix have been conducted so far, one each at Australia, Bahrain, and China, respectively, it would help the Otmar Szafnauer-led team to get up ahead in the battle between the midfielders.

To that end, memorable performances such as the fighting eighth by Sergio Perez at the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix shall definitely hold the team in good stead. At China, Perez battled a more experienced contemporary in Kimi Raikkonen and managed to keep the Alfa Romeo driver at his Racing Point’s tail.
But is that all?
What more can be expected out of Racing Point, a side that is currently eighth-best on a scale of ten on the Constructor standing, clearly struggling with 7 points.

“Spain is where things start to happen,” stated Mr. Green, who’d go on to add, “we’ve got updates coming thick and fast. We’re still a long way off where we want to be, that’s for sure. “It takes time to build the team up to challenge where we want to be challenging.
“Other teams have made big steps,” he added. “We’ve been cash-strapped for many years.

“It’s going to take time to build up the team and move it forward, we’ve just got to be patient,” Green continued. “The updates that we’ve put on, we’re getting closer to optimizing them.”
The above told it’s worthwhile to mention that the prospect of racing at the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix would certainly interest Racing Point’s most experienced driver, Sergio Perez. This is for the simple fact that in the past 3 editions of the contest, the Racing Point driver has managed to land on the podium on 2 editions.
