Born in 2008, Wilson originally hails from Chesapeake, Virginia. His education is underway at the Bullis High School, a private institution in Potomac, Maryland, where he will be graduating as part of the class of 2026. And this could only be possible through the life-changing decision his parents made.

Wilson’s sprinting talent was obvious to them at an early age. Having decided to nurture his skills, they identified Bullis High School as the perfect destination for him to hone his abilities. Thus, from Virginia, they resettled in Maryland, for Quincy to get proper coaching at the Gaithersburg school.

As per the Head of School, Christian Sullivan, Wilson has always been a phenomenal athlete as well as an excellent scholar. A recipient of the freshman Manuel José Baca, Jr. Joy of Living Award and the sophomore Head of Upper School Award, Wilson has been a renowned student at the institution. While he clocked a 47.77 in the final, his semis time was a spectacular 47.59, which afforded him to surpass Obea Moore’s U14 national record that stood for 30 years.

In 2023, he ran a 46.67 at the New Balance Nationals Indoors, where he stood first on the grid. This became his first national title, a mega win for him. But what followed was an even more spectacular season, as 2024 was full of achievements for the runner. In January, he opened the year with a bang, with his 500m world record U-18 at the VA Showcase. Wilson had achieved this in just 1:01.27 minutes. Come February, he won the 600m event at the Millrose Games, followed by defending his New Balance Nationals Indoor time in March by registering a 45.76 victory.

The same month, he again stunned the world with his showdown at the Florida Relays. His 45.19 seconds 400m dash there was the quickest U.S. time that year, across levels. Next up, he ran a 45.13 in June, at the New Balance Outdoors, shortly before the U.S. Olympic Trials started.

Moreover, at Hayward Field for the all-important Track and Field trials, Quincy Wilson was in great form. And that zest reflected in his performances too, for his 400m sprint there set a new U-18 world record, with 44.66 seconds on the clock. With this, he overtook Darrell Robinson, who had been holding that top position for 42 years. And just two days after that, he bested his own timings, running a 44.59 in the semi-finals, amounting to another record.

Although he failed to sail through to the Olympics in the 400m category, falling short in the finals, he will still be debuting in Paris. As Wilson was selected to be a part of the 4x400m men’s relay team.
