Housemarque’s latest sci-fi RPG shooter title, Returnal, saw the light of the day today. Set to release this week, Housemarque released a launch trailer for the title, which gave us a sneak peek into what awaits us in the game. Returnal is mainly a psychological horror that takes players to the alien planet of Atropos. The title features elements of a time loop as well, which is one of its major selling points. From what we have seen from the trailer, this PS5 exclusive psych-horror title will take players on a wild and confusing ride.

Players control the character of the space pilot Selene, who is left stranded on the rogue planet Atropos. Furthermore, she finds herself stuck in a time loop, which resurrects her every time she dies. And every time she comes round, she finds herself at the crash site once again.

The PS5 exclusive Returnal promises a wild ride to the players

The trailer has showcased the time loop element excellently. This is something we have seen in the trailers of the upcoming PS5 exclusive title from the house of Bethesda: Deathloop. It became one of the most interesting aspects of this game and raised a huge amount of hype for it. However, Bethesda later postponed its release.

Coming back to Returnal, this title has balanced the RPG and third-person FPS elements really well. Housemarque has always been known more for its arcade-style titles. Overall, the production house seldom has a title as narrative-driven as this one. However, looks like they have managed to do the job pretty well.

The overall treatment of the storyline raises much intrigue. For instance, the trailer shows an apparently ordinary-looking house on the alien planet Atropos. Naturally, this raises a lot of questions and speculations. Well, maybe some of the answers will have to wait until the 30th of this month.
