People often consider WWE as all fake and scripted, which is not totally wrong, but the suffering and pain it offers are real. WWE rightly begins its DVD with a gentle warning that says, ‘Injuries can happen any time.’ While wrestlers try to limit hostility in order to protect each other, they can do it up to some extent only.

The top NXT star JD McDonagh recently suffered a brutal injury in his right eye during a match or post-match altercation on the February 7 episode of WWE NXT. Fans had nothing but prayers after he shared the photo of the horror injury.

McDonagh faced Carmelo Hayes during the post vengeance Day edition of NXT this past Tuesday and ended up losing to him. But the real hardship hit him when former NXT UK Champion Ilja Dragunov turned on him after the bell. Following the match, Dragunov appeared out of nowhere and helped Hayes to defeat McDonagh by making him distracted. The returning star then struck McDonagh with a forearm and chased him through the crowd.

Post the not-so-well-gone match, the Irish Ace took to his Twitter to come up with his injury update due to the grueling brawl against his long-time rival Dragunov. He confirmed that he suffered a detached retina in his right eye and will be out of action for nearly 2 weeks.

Though it was apparently clear that McDonagh is not going to be on the shelf for too long, fans seem restless waiting for his soonest comeback.

Some of them also noted how sneaky and brutal that attack was.

The 32-year-old NXT star has been a fan favorite, especially due to his recent performances. He defeated Dragunov on an episode of NXT last year. The passion and perseverance the Irish star brings to the table are simply unmatched. Fans second that while wishing McDonagh a speedy recovery.

What’s next for the two long-time rivals?

The rivalry between McDonagh and Dragunov is not new. Despite having different styles and personas, both are extremely able to gift an intense match to the fans. Last year, Dragunov faced a tough loss against McDonagh during the October 25th edition of NXT. He ended up being stretchered out. The duo battled back and forth before Dragunov has been passed out from a body scissor and cross face. The Russian grappler had not been seen since then until making a surprise appearance this week with a solid revenge shot.
