GTA 5 is the second highest-selling video game of all time, with over 135 million copies sold worldwide. The game released in 2013 and even after 7 years, people are not only playing it regularly but also creating content around it. Rockstar absolutely nailed it with the design, story, and mechanics, but it is their ability to keep the fans intrigued over the years that has made this title so successful.

After such astounding success, it is only natural that fans will want the next game as soon as possible. Rumors suggesting GTA 6 is in the works have been circulating for the longest time. But according to a popular insider, fans may have to wait much longer than expected.

Popular industry insider Tom Henderson tweeted saying,

“How do creators and websites milk GTA 6 “leaks”? The truth is… We’re still a couple of years away from an announcement. I can’t see the announcement coming until fiscal 2023 at the earliest.”

Rockstar has a history of making people wait. They released GTA 5 in 2013, a full five years after releasing GTA 4 in 2008. It seems Rockstar wants to beat that record and make it 10 years this time around.

As for GTA 6’s late arrival, it is justified considering the immense success of GTA 5. The game is still going strong in terms of its revenue and popularity, and Rockstar wouldn’t want to put a stop to it.

Moreover, an enhanced edition of GTA 5 will be available for the next-gen PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. So, Rockstar definitely still has some plans for it. Sadly, this only pushes the GTA 6 further into the future.
