

Content plagiarism on YouTube has been a persistent issue faced by content creators. A lot of channels on the platform get their content by using clips from streamers like Shroud, Ninja, Pokimane, etc. However, only a small portion of them mention or cite their sources. This is something that has been bugging the streaming community for a long. Not to mention the adverse effect it can have on the career of a streamer.

Since the streaming community is a part of the content industry, the competition has been really high in the field. In order to rise to popularity, many content creators out there use clips from popular streamers from Twitch and other streaming platforms to make their own content.

This is somewhat of a shortcut that many have used. As a result, there are times when some lesser-known streamers have had their clips stolen and posted by other content creators. We do not need to break down the toll this takes on the streamer, both emotionally and in terms of their career.

Recently, popular Twitch streamer Pokimane took to Twitter to speak up about people using clips of her gameplay in their videos or content and posting them with inappropriate titles and thumbnails. This is something numerous content creators on YouTube do in order to get more reach. They use clickbait titles in their videos and use thumbnails they think would attract more viewership.

In her tweet, Pokimane says, “I don’t mind but please don’t use gross and inappropriate titles and thumbnails. It’s my content after all, and it makes me uncomfortable to see it used that way.”

She is not the only one who has had these complaints. And these issues are persistent mainly on YouTube. However, this problem is less pressing on Twitch due to their more-than-strict copyright laws and strict vigilance.
