Gamers around the world stepped into the next generation of gaming with Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S. As expected, all the consoles have been a massive hit worldwide. So much so, that many patrons are still struggling to avail their first new-gen console.
Amidst the supply shortage owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has revealed the company’s strategy for the future. He talked about several important topics in a recent interview with the Japanese media outlet, Nikkei.
It comes as no surprise that the PS5 is Sony’s priority now, and it will leave no stone unturned to further increase its demand.

PlayStation 5 will offer even more exclusives than the PS4
Over the years, PlayStation has gained a large user-base primarily because of the first-party titles it offers. Just to name a few, these include God of War, The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Ghost of Tsushima, among others. All these games have bagged several awards in their respective genres and have played a major role in popularizing the PlayStation consoles.
Sony realizes that first-party games are the key to win the console war. Accordingly, with the PS5, it looks forward to releasing more exclusive titles than previous generations. For doing so, the console giant will continue acquiring developing studios like Insomniac Games.
“We have been quietly, but steadily investing in high-quality games for PlayStation. And we will make sure the PlayStation 5 generation has more exclusive software than ever before. We have engaged in mergers and acquisitions several times in the past, such as with Insomniac Games. We will not rule out that option in the future.” said Ryan.

Jim Ryan opens up on cloud games partnership with Microsoft
With the advent of online gaming, cloud gaming services have become more important than ever. At the moment, it won’t be an overstatement that Microsoft is leading the market with its Xbox Cloud Gaming, Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate.
Sony is also working on its cloud strategy actively and will soon announce it. It will not only help the corporation with its technical infrastructure but will provide a unique cloud gaming experience to the users.
“The conversation of exchanging ideas (with Microsoft) is ongoing. It’s some extremely interesting stuff, and I hope to announce our cloud strategy when the time is right. While we could use the cloud for our technical infrastructure, the cloud game experience we offer will be unique to PlayStation,” claimed the PlayStation head.

From the looks of it, Jim Ryan is confident about making the PS5 the biggest success in PlayStation’s history. He believes that the sales usually peak in the third/fourth year of the console’s release, but the latest new-gen console will have an even longer life cycle.
