The year 2020 has been full of ups and downs (downs mostly); however, the biggest upside for the gaming world would be the next-gen console launch. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are now available (barely) as we step into the future of gaming.

Unfortunately, both these consoles are a rarity considering the obvious supply issues due to the global pandemic. On the other hand, the demand for these is off the charts and hence, people are unable to get their hands on either of the consoles. However, it seems PlayStation has offered a ray of hope with its latest announcement.

The official PlayStation account took to Twitter to deliver this amazing bit of news. The announcement read, “We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever.

“Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year – please stay in touch with your local retailers.”

There is a good reason behind this announcement being so exciting. In a recent interview, SIE CEO Jim Ryan provided an update on the global stock and sales for the PS5.

“Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold. And everything will be sold in Russia, there’s no doubt about that. I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.”

It seems that his efforts to increase supply may soon be successful, as more PS5 units might be available before 2020 ends. This means that Sony will possibly look to end the year with another blockbuster sales record.

Similar stock shortages are also a reality in the case of Xbox Series X. Hopefully, Microsoft won’t be too far behind in restocking its console and will have an update soon. For now, buyers will have to keep checking in with their retailers in their respective countries regarding stock updates.
