There was a glimmer of hope when popular industry insider Roberto Serrano provided an update. Apparently, Sony was supposed to reveal the launch date and price on July 13 but that never happened. Now Roberto says that another event is scheduled for August 6, 2020. Take a look:

Apparently, Sony plans to showcase certain third-party games that will be available for the PS5 and the PS4. We could even get lucky and get to see a new God of War title. But given what happened last time, we wouldn’t be too sure about this. Still, keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Eric Lempel’s address on the Pre-orders for PS5

Another bit of news that came from an even more credible source may intrigue you further. Recently, Geoff Keighley hosted a preview that introduced us to the DualSense controller. During that preview, he was joined by Eric Lempel, SVP of Marketing for Sony Interactive Entertainment. When asked about the pre-orders/launch date rumors, he said,

“We had nothing to do with it,’. “I got a message from someone saying people are lining up at stores, and we had no idea why. We’ll let you know when pre-orders will happen. It’s not going to happen with a minute’s notice. We’re going to, at some point, let you know when you can pre-order PlayStation 5.”
