PlayStation 5 event videos have set the standard for engagement

As of June 15, the PS5’s digital event videos have already surpassed 80 million combined views, according to VGC’s report. The views generated are notably greater than the 53 million posted by PS4’s reveal event and the 55 million registered by PlayStation’s last appearance at E3 in 2018. Moreover, it is double the 40 million views for PS4’s E3 2013.

YouTube views generated from the videos on PlayStation’s official channel are the basis for those numbers.

Additionally, the official live-stream video for the PS5 event has drawn 17 million viewers across the six distinct language versions, within the first few days. The figure is astronomical when compared to the 3 million views for PS4’s 2013 PlayStation Meeting and the 2.4 million for PS4’s E3 2018 exhibition.

Apart from that, PS5’s hardware reveal trailer has become the second most viewed PlayStation video with 22 million views. Only the PS4’s 2013 reveal video is ahead of it currently, with 37 million views. It won’t be long before the PS5 hardware reveal trailer overtakes the PS4 one, considering it’s only been five days.

Xbox’s Minecraft village update video (35m), trailers for Nintendo Switch (43m), two videos for Super Mario Odyssey (43m and 32m), and Switch parental controls (36m) are the only ones across official YouTube channels for other consoles that have more views than PS5’s hardware video, at the moment.
