PlayStation 5 teardown component reveal

Firstly, the console is huge. Its dimensions are 104mm wide, 390mm high, and 260mm deep. Nonetheless, the size does contribute to its processing power and in keeping the system quiet. PlayStation 5 is even bigger than its predecessor, the PS4.

Moving on, the entire rear end is designed to exhaust air out of the system. The cooling functionality in PS5 is actually one of the more impressive ones. The cooling fan used is a 120mm diameter, 45mm thick, double-sided air intake, which is quite big for an integrated console.

In addition, there is a heatsink added that Sony believes “achieve the same performance as a vapor chamber.”

Furthermore, PS5 also uses a liquid metal for cooling performance and cutting away the fan noise. Mr. Ootori revealed Sony worked two years on this liquid metal.
