PlayStation and Xbox are both suffering from the lack of stock for its new-gen consoles. Ever since both the consoles launched back in November 2020, customers found it extremely hard to land one because of the extraordinary sales.
Furthermore, scalping sites are purchasing the consoles in bulk to create shortage in the market. They sell the consoles later at exorbitant prices, much to annoyance of the customers. Moreover, the global lockdown was another significant reason both the console makers could not deliver according to the demand.
This did not stop PlayStation from having the biggest launch in its history with the PS5. The sales reports showed that the console went completely out of stock in a matter of days after the launch. People who had pre-ordered many months prior to the release did not receive it on time. In fact, there are complaints on major retail sites that many customers have still not received the product.

More good news arrived last week from the UK minister of state for digital and culture, Caroline Dinenage. She confirmed discussions are ongoing for a proposed bill that will make scalping of consoles illegal in UK.
Here’s hoping Sony will set its sight on providing its customers with the consoles, and the hopeful PS5 owners will get to play with one before it stops being ‘new-gen’.
