Sony’s PlayStation 5 has been the hottest item of this holiday season. Ironically, the console’s record launch has also resulted in a downside for fans. PlayStation patrons have had a tough time getting hold of the console, as the demand has outstripped the supply by a mile.

It all started with Sony’s pre-order phase that was rather chaotic, leaving hundreds of gamers stranded. Since then, potential buyers have waited for countless hours, but it seems like their patience is wearing thin.

Retail stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Amazon paint a disturbing picture. Walmart announced a restock of the console only for it to get sold out within seconds. Stock shortages have forced many to leave empty-handed.

The online stores too, announce a restock only for it to get sold out instantaneously, something that has become a pattern. The disastrous availability of the console has led the buyers to vent their feelings online.

PlayStation 5 just doesn’t seem to reach its buyers

Walmart had announced a stock refill just last week. Thousands of buyers went online in order to grab the next-gen console. But despite that, many were left empty-handed just like before.

Walmart over the last few days has been announcing the date and time of stock refill. While this information allows the buyers to be prepared for the refill, its flip side is the massive crowd that it attracts.

Sony’s PlayStation Direct service enables the buyers to enter a virtual queue. This allows Sony to cut down on bots and scalpers. However, this system too isn’t foolproof as the buyers have to wait in long queues only to find the console unavailable at the end of it.

Walmart recently announced yet another stock refill as part of the Black Friday sale. But once again, not everyone could get their hands on it as the stock emptied out hot cakes.

This gave the patrons yet another chance to scrutinize a system that over the last few days has become obsolete. The PlayStation’s official Twitter account sent out a tweet empathizing with its users.
