The Playstation 5 launch is close, and it’s about time we heard something from Sony. There has been no communication, rumor, or even the slightest indication regarding the launch or pre-orders of the next-gen console. The global pandemic may have added to the delay, but thankfully the console will still launch in Holiday 2020. Its rival, the Xbox Series X, has already announced a November release, but the date is still to be determined.
While Sony is still keeping things under wraps, it has unveiled its first commercial to depict PS5’s features.
The message that PS5 is going for is ‘Play has no limits’. Check out the ad below:

The ad attempts to show the console’s most prominent features in a dramatic fashion. The voiceover says, “A world where you can see with sound.” This points to the 3D Audio feature of the PS5, which should enhance your audio experience substantially. This will help you have a thoroughly immersive experience.
Next was the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller. We had learned more about this in the controller preview conducted by Geoff Keighley at the Summer Games Fest. You can read more about it here.

Epic Lempel on the PlayStation 5 marketing campaign
It is difficult to run a marketing campaign during a global pandemic. The global situation changed a lot of parameters for the marketing department, and Sony had to adapt to it. Sony’s Global Head Of Marketing Eric Lempel spoke to gamesindustry.biz recently.
“We really had to change how we do things. If we weren’t in the current situation, we would probably have produced a slightly different type of spot. This is going to become the new way of the world for the foreseeable future, and a lot of us had to adapt and shift and get innovative and creative. Although it is not the situation we would want in a launch year, we are pretty happy with how we’ve been able to pivot and create something like this.”

It makes sense because this launch would otherwise have happened at E3 or some other event. But because of obvious restrictions and health concerns, this is how they had to adapt. And it is commendable how they are still trying to give us the full experience of the console before we get to touch or see it for ourselves.
This ad was just the tip of the iceberg. The campaign has just kicked off and there is more exciting stuff coming our way soon.
