

Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly went from hero to zero and now he is back to hero once again. In 2018, he was highly impressive with the Toro Rosso under him and regularly outperformed Brendon Hartley.
Soon, in the wake of the sudden departure of Daniel Ricciardo to Renault, Red Bull handed him a promotion this year. Unfortunately, it was abundantly clear that Pierre Gasly was nowhere close to being ready to tackle the Red Bull.
So, mid-season, Red Bull swapped out Gasly for Alex Albon for the rest of the 2019 season. While many would think of it as a downgrade, especially after driving for a senior team. However, the French driver sees the ‘demotion’ as a blessing in disguise, as it helped bring up his mojo.

Considering that he has bagged a maiden podium, and Toro Rosso’s third career podium, he is right. Earlier in 2019, in a similarly topsy-turvy race in Germany, Daniil Kvyat bagged a podium for the Faenza-based team.
In Brazil, Toro Rosso lucked out when Lewis Hamilton punted Red Bull’s Alexander Albon. Gasly, in 4th, immediately capitalised, to the delight of the team and managed to hold off Hamilton to take 2nd.
Once that happened, the team practically exploded, and the celebrations were crazy. Naturally, the Frenchman was ecstatic and the team radio clearly showed it.

It is believed that Pierre Gasly attributed his better performance to “feeling more comfortable” in his Toro Rosso. The Frenchman finished ninth in Belgium and eleventh in Monza after nearly colliding with the SportPesa Racing Point of Lance Stroll as he came back on track, feeling better in the car ahead of Singapore.
