In recent years, pickleball has exploded in popularity in the US with many individuals ardently taking up the paddle sport. Many tennis veterans like John McEnroe and Andre Agassi have also entered the courts of the new racket game while marking their participation in various tournaments.

However, the paddle sport, which was originally thought of as a game for older athletes and individuals, has now transcended all boundaries and demographics. Even the teachers in Bloomington have now succumbed to its craze and are keen to learn about the fastest-growing sport in the country. While honing their pickleball skills, the physical education teachers are now in the hopes of adding it to their curriculum.

Pickleball popularity made its way into the schools in Bloomington

When you think of pickleball, you might think of a retirement community. But this group of teachers in Bloomington is bringing the sport to the next generation. Built as a sport everyone can play, the racket game has now aroused the interest of the teachers at Oak Grove Middle School in Bloomington.

In an interview with Fox9, Marcie Coval, who is part of the educational institution community in Bloomington, opened up about how they are planning to bring what’s popular for their students and teachers. A number of P.E. teachers from across the district are now learning the rules of the game with the objective of incorporating pickleball into their school’s curriculum.

Speaking about the idea of the paddle sport becoming a part of the curriculum, another P.E. teacher Jennie Berglund asserted that pickleball is something you can do for a long period. She said, “Being able to pick up a pickleball paddle and a ball and heading out to a court in your neighborhood is something you can do forever”. 

Apart from P.E. teachers, the paddle game also piqued the interest of many prominent coaches in the tennis community.

Pickleball gets a huge shout-out from a legendary tennis coach

Brad Gilbert, who recently guided Coco Gauff to her maiden Grand Slam glory, has also picked up the paddle. In a video clip on Twitter, the 62-year-old talked about how pickleball players can check out and hone their racket game skills using a new product in the market.

While giving a shout-out to the sport, Gilbert shared some important insights about the practice product ‘Dink Master Wall,’ which has recently been launched in the pickleball community. The American tennis coach also asserted that the former number 1 at UCLA, Drew Brees has also been using this paddle game product.
