What are the challenges at TPC Twin Cities?
The TPC Twin Cities has Bentgrass from tee to green with moderate roughs around fairways and greens. There are a total of 27 water bodies in the course, making it a primary hazard on 14 holes with 72 sand traps. But still, the 3M Open course plays out as a birdie fest every year. The Bentgrass on the fairway will assist players as the ball will roll on nicely.
However, the greens can become tricky, and judging the pace of it can be a headache. So a hot putter can run you up in the leaderboard, but it’s pointless if you can’t strike an iron. Hence the approach shots on the course become imperative.

The trickiest part is to avoid the water, as one terrible approach can be the end of the week with so many other players going low. So fast greens, water hazards, and wind could be the only defense for the course this week.
The par-3s are tough, as three out of four stretches are around 200 yards. There are two par-4s which are almost 500 yards and five holes extending over 450 yards. These are some of the resilient holes on the course. So getting par on each of these is as good as anything. However, all the par-5s are straightforward, and players have a chance to score eagles and birdies.
