The 2021 Northern Trust is currently underway at the Liberty National Golf Course, New Jersey. It is the first of the three playoff events with top 125 golfers from the FedExCup rankings in the field. After round one, Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm shared the top spot with a score of -8. Meanwhile, in the ongoing second round, Jordan Spieth has achieved a feat for the first time in his career.

Even though the course is on the easier side, the wind is making it difficult for the players to judge their shots. Still, Jon Rahm has continued his momentum and has taken an early lead on day two. He shot -4 and has remained -12 for the event.

Jordan Spieth, who started his day one over par, has suddenly made an upheaval on the leaderboard with back-to-back eagles. Firstly, on 409 yards par4 5th hole, Jordan smashed his driver 327 yards right in the center of the fairway. He then flushed a sand wedge with a perfect divot which helped him to get the backspin. Spieth aimed that shot so well that the backspin rolled the ball into the hole and got his first eagle.

Jordan, on the very next hole, which is a 528 yards par-5 6th hole, got his second eagle. However, his tee shot was completely wayward as he drove his ball way right off the fairway. Spieth then smashed a 3-wood towards the green and thankfully avoided water. He managed to stay on the edge of the green. Then, with 84-ft to the pin, he chipped in with his wedge to roll the ball inside the hole to score back-to-back eagles.

The visualization behind this chip shot was impeccable by Jordan Spieth. This kind of shot is possible to execute when you visualize the drop and roll of the ball on the green. Moreover, according to PGA Tour Communications, this is the first that Jordan Spieth has made back-to-back eagles in his 743 career rounds on the PGA Tour.
