Rickie Fowler had the worst season this year as he failed to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs for the first time in his career. Moreover, he even dropped in rankings to World No. 128 and registered just four top-20 finishes. Meanwhile, he started his 2021-22 season on a disappointing note as he missed the cut at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

However, last week Fowler visited Butch Harmon, Tiger Woods’ former swing coach. Harmon, who is currently 78, doesn’t travel with the Tour players anymore. Hence, Fowler went to his native Nevada, where he has a Golf School in Rio Secco. But why did Rickie Fowler visit Butch Harmon? Let’s find out.
Rickie Fowler visits Butch Harmon Tiger Woods’ swing coach
After round one, Rickie Fowler appeared in an interview with Golf Channel. “Yeah, so obviously having the weekend off last week, the course here was closed, and I wanted to hit balls,” Fowler said. “So it’s always fun to catch up with Butchie. He’s someone that’s just fun to be around, and on top of that it was nice to use the facility over there, hit some balls.”
Notably, along with Tiger Woods, Butch Harmon has also worked with Rickie in the past. The master is considered as one of the best swing coach instructors on the PGA Tour.
However, his prodigy did not visit Harmon for any swing instructions. He just wanted to get approval from Harmon on what he was working on currently. “For me, for the most part, since I worked with him for such a long time in a kind of the middle part of my career there, I think just getting kind of like his stamp of approval,” Fowler said.
“He loved everything that Tillery [current swing coach John Tillery] and I were working on, so it’s just fun to be around him. He was excited to see [Fowler’s wife] Allison and so spent some time with him, his wife, Christy, as well. As I said, he’s just fun to be around, and he loved what we were working on. He just said go play and keep trusting it,” Rickie added.
