The PGA Tour is heading towards the business end of the season. And the last event, the Wyndham Championship is about to begin. So, players who haven’t yet made it to the top 125 in rankings will have one last chance to make it to the playoffs and qualify for the next season. However, prominent golfer Louis Oosthuizen has withdrawn from the event.

There will be a total of 156 golfers in the field for this week. The field previously had prominent players like Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen. But since both these players have withdrawn from the event, there are only a couple of big names remaining in the field like Hideki Matsuyama, Rickie Fowler, and Webb Simpson.

Why did Louis Oosthuizen withdraw from the Wyndham Championship at the last moment?

Louis Oosthuizen has been playing some brilliant golf for the past five to six months. But still, he hasn’t been able to cross the winning line as he always ends up as a runner-up in a major event. However, according to the PGA Tour, Louis, citing a neck injury has withdrawn from the Wyndham Championship.

Louis Oosthuizen decided this on the eve of the tournament, as he didn’t want to take a risk before the playoffs. He is currently ranked at No.8 and was the only top-10 golfer in the event. Moreover, he can afford to take a break and come back fresh for the playoffs due to his high FedEx Cup rankings.

Louis is in brilliant form as he finished T2 at 3M Open a couple of weeks ago. Moreover, he even had a great finish to the Open Championship as he finished T3. However, he is still in search of a title, especially a major championship, and will hopefully get one in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Louis Oosthuizen will be replaced by Wes Roach. At No.208 in the FedEx Cup rankings, Wes will tee off with Jason Kokrak and Josh Teater. The Sedgefield Country Club, North Carolina, will host the final regular PGA Tour event.
