The 2021 Mayakoba Golf Classic is all set to begin on November 4th and, as usual, El Camaleon Golf Club, Mexico, will host the tournament. The El Camaleon Golf Club is one of the most straightforward courses on the PGA Tour. The venue has a combined par of 71, with a total yardage of 7,013 yards. Meanwhile, the weather for the weekend looks decent, with a low chance of rain and relatively calm wind, with daytime temperatures reaching well into the 80s.

What are the challenges at the El Camaleon Golf Club?

Meanwhile, there are no significant changes made to this course, and it is almost identical to the one from last year. Hence, if the weather remains good, the scoring average should be around a stroke or two under par. Moreover, with top players competing, there are high chances that we will see plenty of scores in the 60s. 

Furthermore, the primary rough is covering just over two inches, making the roughs relatively easier. The greens have paspalum grass, which makes putting slightly easier than the Bermuda grass. Moreover, having the paspalum grass in the fairways and roughs allows the golf ball to sit up and gives the golfer a clean lie. 

Additionally, El Camaleon Golf Club is known as the second-shot golf course, as the winners usually have a higher percentage of greens in regulation. The defending champion Viktor Hovland did a similar thing in 2020. He just missed 11 greens in all four rounds and won the event with a score of -20. 

Meanwhile, the El Camaleon Golf Club has a quartet of par 3s. And they have been the easiest holes in the course every season apart from 2014. So taking the advantage of these holes is imperative for every golfer.
