Tony Finau is one of the prominent and underrated golfers on the PGA Tour. Even though Finau only has two PGA Tour wins, he is a far better golfer. Moreover, fans remember Finau because of an unfortunate incident that occurred at the Masters in 2018. However, even after facing this adverse situation, he still had an impressive tournament that week.

Tony Finau dislocated his ankle and had a major injury scare. Hence, he almost dropped out of the event because of this terrible injury. But still, he managed to compete in the event and made a top 10 finish at Augusta National. So, let us have a look at it.

Tony Finau dislocates his ankle at the 2018 Masters

The American Tony Finau was competing at the traditional par 3 contest on Wednesday at Augusta National. Finau flushed his iron on the 7th hole and a hole-in-one and was on cloud nine. Moreover, he started running in delight towards the hole and then suddenly slipped and dislocated his left ankle. Surprisingly, he popped it back in with ease and made a thumbs up, showing he was fine. 

But when he got the X-ray on Wednesday evening, it showcased a dislocation but had no breaks. His leg was swollen and had become blue and black. So, Tony Finau made a tweet about the same saying“Crazy day. Thanks for thoughts of concern, messages, and prayers from all. I am optimistic.”

Furthermore, he had an MRI scan on Thursday morning which showed there was no severe damage, but he just had a high ankle sprain. Hence, he decided to play the event and give it a try. Meanwhile, everyone thought he would never make it to the weekend with this ankle pain.

But he surprised everyone with his performance as he finished the Masters with a score of -7 and made a T10 finish. Moreover, he even made a tweet after the Masters, where he highlighted the eventful week and thanked everyone for their wishes.
