Rory McIlroy played Ian Poulter in his first-round match and it was the duel that everyone had been waiting for. The latter got off to a good start and went 1-up right in the par-4 first hole.
It was agony for McIlroy at the start, but he managed to find good strokes and match Poulter’s efforts in the subsequent holes. However, holes #4 and #5 caused massive troubles for the Northern Irishman.
McIlroy bogeyed the par-3 fourth hole by missing a 20-inch putt and followed it with a horrible tee-shot at the fifth. He hit it massively wide and the ball eventually ended up in a swimming pool.
What was more amusing it that the ball landed into a neighboring person’s swimming pool. It found its way out of the course and crossed the bounds! Who could’ve guessed?!
