Rory McIlroy is one of the most prominent golfers in the sport, with 20 PGA Tours and four major championship victories in his career so far. Currently, he is competing at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, where Tiger Woods made his first-ever public appearance in a while.

Notably, as per his standards, Rory had a below-average previous season. He managed to win just one event earlier, at Wells Fargo Championship. However, his start to the 2021-22 PGA Tour season has been incredible. Winning the CJ Cup in Vegas, Rory was also in contention for the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Rory McIlroy isn’t fond of jokes about his torn tee shirt

Rory McIlroy was competing at the DP World Tour Championship a couple of weeks ago. Notably, he was the top contender to lift the trophy thru 68 holes. However, during the last four holes of the event, Rory suddenly had an upheaval in his game and slipped down on the leaderboard with a couple of bogeys.

As for Collin Morikawa, he seized this opportunity and had an excellent finish to win the DP World Tour Championship and also the Race to Dubai title. Hence, after completing his round, Rory tore his shirt in frustration while walking towards the clubhouse.

During the pre-round press conference of the Hero World Challenge now, Dan Rapaport, a journalist, joked with Rory about his shirt. However, McIlroy did not appreciate it. When the reporter said, “Nice shirt, it’s in one piece,” Rory replied, “It is. It’s another joke you tried to make that’s not that funny.” The reporter then questioned McIlroy, “You didn’t like that one either?” to which he answered, “No.”

Rory’s actions on the course from the DP World Tour Championship went viral, subjecting him to a lot of criticism and jokes, in particular. Despite not being a fan of it, Rory generously joked along with the reporters and didn’t pay much heed to their comments.
