The U.S. Open 2021 is currently underway at Torrey Pines in San Diego. And after two rounds plenty of golfers walk away as they fail to cross the cut line. But getting to play in the U.S. Open is an impressive achievement itself. And then making the cut and walking into the weekend is the next thing. But more than half of the 156-man field returned disappointed as only the top 60 (including ties) walked into the weekend.
This year the cut-line remained +4, and many players including former U.S. Open champions failed to qualify. Here is the list of a few notable players who failed to go into the weekend.

1.Will Zalatoris
Zalatoris was impressive in the previous U.S. Open at Winged Foot, where he finished T6. But unfortunately, he couldn’t replicate that magic in this year’s U.S. Open. He started early on Thursday morning but couldn’t get a single birdie in both rounds. The 24-year-old shot -7 for the tournament with seven bogeys and missed the cut line.
2. Tyrell Hatton
Tyrell had a decent round one in the U.S. Open 2021 as he was one under par for the day. But the second round turned out to be an agonizing one as he scored +7 and missed the cut line. According to OWGR, Hatton is the World No.9 and was one of the favorites to finish in the top 10. But unfortunately, because of his sub-par iron and putting game, he will not miss the weekend at Torrey Pines.
3. Tony Finau
Tony Finau is one of the prominent golfers on the PGA Tour. But he had a game of shambolic golf in this year’s U.S. Open as Finau scored +8 for the tournament and missed the cut line. He only hit the fairway twice in his entire round on Friday, which shows his driving was disastrous. But one thing that stood out for him was his putting. Apart from that, nothing was in his favor during both rounds.
4. Webb Simpson
Webb Simpson is a former U.S. Open Champion who had won the trophy in 2012. But this year, he couldn’t get himself going and shot +10 for the tournament and missed the cut. His wedge game and putting let him down while his driving and iron game looked decent.

Justin Rose has had a frustrating last two seasons. However, he finished T8 at the PGA Championship and 7th at the Masters in April. This recent performance of his had given him a ray of hope. But disastrously, he scored +13 for the tournament, making him one of the worst players on the field. His entire game, right from driving to putting, was in shambles. He scored 14 bogeys, three birdies, and a double bogey to miss the cut line.
