Notably, Ryder Cup legend Sergio Garcia surpassed Nick Faldo’s record for most matches won. He also holds the most points for any European at the Ryder Cup.
Sergio Garcia and his feud with Tiger Woods
The mutual disdain that the two hold for each other has a long history. What seemed to have started as playful banter soon led to bruised egos. Gradually, it has erupted into one of the sourest relationships in golf and there seems to be no going back for the two legends.
The seeds to this tussle were sown at the 1999 PGA Championship in Medinah, where Tiger Woods won by a one-stroke margin over Garcia. The two rising stars went head-to-head a couple of more times, and that’s when the fight really began.
A major incident took place when Sergio Garcia made an inappropriate comment to Woods. Although, following heavy backlash, he apologized, but Woods had already taken offense. Moreover, at the Players Championship in 2013, Garcia blamed Woods for distracting him and causing a hindrance to his performance.

In some recent comments that have surfaced from 2013, Garcia says, “I am not going to lie, he is not my favorite golfer to play with. Tiger is not the nicest guy on tour.”
“He called me a whiner. That’s probably right,” Woods said in response. “It’s also probably the first thing he’s told you guys that’s true in 15 years. I know what he is like. You guys are finding out.”
