After waiting for months, the PGA Tour has finally announced the 2021 Player Impact Program winners. Notably, the organization announced Tiger Woods as the actual winner of the program, not Phill Mickelson. And the GOAT couldn’t resist from taking a dig at Lefty.
Soon after the PGA announced Tiger as the winner of PIP, the GOAT took to Twitter reacting to it.

He posted the screenshot of Mickelson’s tweet in which he disclosed himself as the winner of the PIP money. Tiger captioned the post, “🤷♂️ whoops 🤷♂️.”
Mickelson had tweeted last December claiming that he had won the PIP money. Since no one from the PGA Tour denied his statement, at least some of the golf world had believed him.
Tiger Woods has won the 2021 PIP, but he wouldn’t get the money!
Although it sounds like a joke, it is true according to the recent tweet of Dan Rapaport of Golf Digest.
One last interesting PIP note—Tiger technically isn’t eligible to receive his money until he plays an event he hasn’t played in the last 4 years. That’s why Phil went to Kapalua, to satisfy that requirement.
Not clear if they’ll make an exception given Tiger’s circumstances.

As per Dan, Tiger cannot win the PIP money because of certain rules from the PGA Tour. “Tiger technically isn’t eligible to receive his money until he plays an event he hasn’t played in the last 4 years,” Dan tweeted. “That’s why Phil went to Kapalua, to satisfy that requirement.”
Who are the top 10 golfers who won the $40 million PIP money?
According to the PGA Tour website, Woods will receive $8 million as a reward as the first prize winner. Meanwhile, Mickelson has won the second prize and bagged the $6 million prize money.
The organization distributed $3.5 million for the 3-6 positions, which Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Bryson DeChambeau, and Justin Thomas won, in order. Players like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, and Bubba Watson won the 7-10 positions. The PGA rewarded all of them with $3 million each.

The PGA also added the metrics by which the golfers were selected as the winners. Internet searches earned media, social media, TV sponsor exposure, and awareness were the five criteria that the PGA took to measure the winners. Interestingly, the Tour didn’t mention any certain rules that would make Tiger ineligible for claiming the PIP money.
