Notably, Tiger is the host of the Genesis Invitational, which is currently underway at the Riviera Country Club. He gave a press conference on Wednesday and touched upon plenty of topics. But, as always, he kept his answers limited and made sure he didn’t give away much.
Tiger Woods gives his views on Phil Mickelson’s criticism
Tiger Woods appeared in front of the media for the first time since the 2021 PNC Championship. In conversation with a reporter, Tiger was asked whether he agrees with Phil Mickelson’s comments about the PGA Tour over the media rights.

Woods took a deep breath and answered. “Yeah, that’s something that — we’ve struggled with that for decades, really,” said Tiger. “If you remember Larry [Rinker] wanted to unionize our Tour, and we went through that whole process.”
“Media rights is a big thing. A lot of us are concerned about what is the direction where we’re going and how can we have more control over that,” said Woods.
Further, he added, “There’s been a lot of talk from whether it’s the PAC or the board or from players internally. Everyone has their opinion about it, but we need to come to a collective decision.”
Moreover, Woods even praised the Tour president Jay Monahan. He said he has worked hard in the interest of every player and for the tour as well. Additionally, he believes that it is a give and take thing, and they need to find the right balance. “Yes, there’s give and take, okay? We just need to find — there’s a balance of what’s best for the players and what’s best for the brand.”
