The Zurich Classic 2021 saw a new team emerge atop the leaderboard on Friday. Cameron Champ and Tony Finau are called team ‘Send It’ owing to their excellent driving skills, and the duo didn’t disappoint. The key to a good partnership is to step up when the other player loses confidence, and Finau excelled in his teammate duties in Round 2 of Zurich Classic 2021.
Tony Finau and Cameron Champ are undeniably the favorites at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The dynamic duo indeed has what it takes to win the event, and they’re atop the leaderboard because they adapted well to the windy conditions at TPC Louisiana.
“Obviously, we knew today with the wind and just the format, in general, it was going to be a grind, and that’s what we did, especially coming down the last nine holes. We just kind of grinded it out, but I finished with a good birdie on 18,” Champ mentioned.

Cameron Champ and Tony Finau have good chemistry as teammates
A total of 80 teams entered the field at Zurich Classic 2021. However, not many of them stood out quite like Tony Finau and Cameron Champ. The duo lived up to their expectations and shot a first-round score of 63 and followed it up with a 68 on Friday.
Round 2 of the Zurich Classic was played in a foursome format and the players had to take alternate shots at each hole. This made it even more challenging, but Cameron Champ is grateful that Tony Finau stepped in and saved the day.
“Saved me on the last hole after that terrible 40-footer I hit. No, like I said, we just fought together. We both hit a few squirrelly shots but we were able to make some good pars that just kept the round going. In this format I think that’s huge,” Champ told the reporters.
