Rory McIlroy was at his absolute best at the Wells Fargo Championship 2021. The Northern Irishman used his experience to bring up his 19th PGA Tour title on Sunday. McIlroy also leapfrogged a few places on the PGA Tour’s all-time money list with his latest triumph.

McIlroy beat Phil Mickelson by four strokes and won his first PGA Tour event at the Quail Hollow Championship in 2010. 11 years later, the Northern Irishman achieved the same feat at the Quail Hollow Club and brought up his third Wells Fargo Championship title.

Yes, the PGA Tour maintains a list of the players who’ve won the most prize money in their careers. The official list contains a lot of star-studded names, and Tiger Woods unsurprisingly leads the pack with $120,851,706 in earnings.

No other player has even crossed the $100 million mark and that should tell you the dominance of Tiger Woods. The second spot is currently held by Phil Mickelson, who’s made $92,451,761 in his PGA Tour career.

Rory McIlroy has not broken into the Top five yet, but he vaulted two spots with his victory at Wells Fargo Championship. He was eighth on the all-time list before the start of the tournament at Quail Hollow Club but has now jumped to sixth.

McIlroy ($56,368,517), surpassed Justin Rose ($55,170,585), and Adam Scott ($56,132,227), with his winnings at Wells Fargo.

Securing the sixth spot on the tour’s all-time money list is impressive indeed. However, Rory McIlroy should make $15M more in career earnings for him to break into the top five. The man above him, Vijay Singh, amassed $71,236,216  in winnings and is now McIlroy’s next target.
