Tiger Woods has not been an active player for the last couple of years due to injuries. However, he still tops the PGA Tour career earnings with $120,851,706. How much did he earn in the early years of his career to still be able to top the career earnings list?

Woods’ career skyrocketed as soon as he turned pro. He had won two championships in his debut year. As a result, the GOAT had already earned a total of $790,594 in 1996. Woods won most of his championship titles from 1996 to 2009, and in that period, he had won a total of $92,862,539 just from the prize money.

It is not a huge amount of money considering the legacy Woods created with the PGA during this time. However, it is shocking to know how much money his every shot earned in a professional event.

How much did each shot of Tiger Woods earn from 1996 to 2009? 

From 1996 to 2009, the total prize money he earned from PGA Tour was around $92 million. Therefore, he earned $1 494,12 for every shot he played during the 898 rounds from his debut to 2009.

To compare, the second-highest earning golfer, Phil Mickelson, has won $94,955,060 as prize money throughout his entire PGA Tour career.

The lowest amount Tiger had earned for each shot per year was $277.79 in his debut year. Meanwhile, the highest he had made per shot was $4,190.86 in 2008. He only played 20 rounds in 2008, yet he made $5,775,000 as prize money. 

The PGA Tour legacy of the GOAT till 2009

As soon as he joined the PGA Tour in 1996, he had started to win championships. Tiger won his first major in 1997 with his victory at the Master’s Tournament. By 2001, he became the fifth career slam winner in the history of the PGA. He also became the only player to hold every major title at the same time.

During the 1996-2009 period, Woods had won 14 major championships. He had also represented his country at several competitions, including the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. 

The legacy Woods has created over the first 15 years of his career is incomparable. Although the money he earned per shot is unbelievably huge, every penny was worth the hard work he put on.
