John Daly is by far one of the most entertaining and fan-favorite golfers on the PGA Tour. Even though Daly hasn’t won plenty of events like other prominent golfers, he has made quite the name for himself with his charisma and heroics on the course. Hence, fans still believe that Daly is the most underrated golfer on the PGA Tour. 

Notably, Daly has five PGA Tour wins and two major championships in his career. But given the ability and length he had on the course, one would’ve expected Daly to move mountains. Nevertheless, he had always attracted crowds for being himself unabashedly. From sporting some interesting outfits to his unusual diets, Daly manages to surprise you almost always.

The 2022 Genesis Invitational concluded recently at Riviera Country Club. Hence, plenty of news from the course has been making the rounds of the internet. Recently, Luke Kerr Dineen, a game improvement editor at golf.com, shared an incredible picture of Daly from the same golf course.

He tweeted the picture of John practicing at the Riviera Country Club for the PGA Championship in 1995. However, Daly had a shaved head then and a cigarette in his mouth, as he prepared for a swing. Posting the picture, Luke wrote, “Shaved head, cig-smoking John Daly mid-backswing practicing for the PGA at Riv in 1995.”

Not to forget, Riviera Country Club is one of the toughest courses, especially the 10th and the 15th hole. But John was well known for his driving distance off the tee, as fans had even given him the nickname ‘long John’. He was probably the longest hitter of the golf ball during his earlier days. But unfortunately, he just couldn’t convert them into a collective good performance.

However, Daly, who is now in the twilight of his career, recently won the 2021 PNC Championship with his son John Daly II. Hence, this shows that he still has a lot of golf left in him and will hopefully bag a couple of more wins, at least on the PGA Tour Champions.
