Patrick Cantlay is currently competing at the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Meanwhile, he has had an excellent start to the event as Cantlay is T5 after round one. Notably, three courses are hosting the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. And each player has to compete on all courses at least once. 

The 2021 FedExCup Champion started his event from the Pebble Beach golf course. However, his round two is at Spyglass, which is one of the most strenuous courses. Hence, everyone regards this course as one of the hardest. And Cantlay, after round one, revealed the reasons for the same.

Patrick Cantlay reveals what makes Spyglass challenging

Patrick Cantlay played his round one at the Pebble Beach golf course. Hence, after round one, he gave a post-round interview where a reporter asked him about the challenges of playing at Spyglass, where he will be playing his next 18 holes.

“Spyglass is, the greens are so undulating that you really have to leave your golf ball in the right spot,” revealed Patrick.

Furthermore, he said that it is good that they don’t play four rounds on this course itself, as choosing a hole location for four rounds on every green is tough. “And there’s a few hole locations that you really have to know exactly what you’re doing. And it’s lucky we don’t play four rounds at that place because I don’t know if there are four-hole locations on every green,” said Cantlay

Meanwhile, Patrick performed well as he carded 65 for round one and remained -6 after day one. Though his round could have been even better, sadly, he carded a couple of bogeys on the 7th and 8th holes. However, Cantlay made a scintillating comeback as he remained bogey-free and carded five birdies on the back nine.

After round one, Tom Hodge leads the event with a score of -9. He carded nine birdies at Pebble Beach, of which six were back-to-back ones from 3rd to 8th hole. So going into round two, Cantlay will aim for a similar performance as he will now compete at the Spyglass golf course.
