Remarkably, the Mexican golfer will be competing on the PGA Tour for the first time. The Mayakoba Golf Classic is all set to begin in Mexico, making his first event even more special. Let us see what exactly he said after qualifying for the Mayakoba Golf Classic.

Camilo Aguado becomes emotional after qualifying for a PGA Tour event

The Mexican golfer Camilo Aguado was competing at the Monday qualifiers of the Mayakoba Golf Classic. Moreover, he managed to perform well and get through to the main event starting on November 4th. The PGA Tour posted a video of his post-round interview where he became emotional and explained what qualifying means to him.

“It’s just so big. I mean, I didn’t start playing golf when I was a kid like most of these guys. I started late when I was 15. And when I started, obviously you have this dream. But you never know if it’s gonna happen. So the fact that it happened is just surreal. I’ve seen these guys for so long. Just to be a part of this is so big,” he said.

Furthermore, the producer asked him about his friends as he called them up right after he qualified. “Basically, we just said a few words, and the rest was just like feelings. They’ve been next to me for so long,” said Camilo, as his voice choked as he turned emotional, recalling his journey.

“Sorry. It’s just like so big. They are coming, and it’s gonna be huge,” concluded Aguado as one of his friends interrupted the interview and consoled him with celebrations. 

Meanwhile, the Mayakoba Golf Classic is all set to begin on November 4 at the El Camaleon Golf Club. Hence, it will be interesting to see how Camilo Aguado will perform as his first-ever PGA Tour event starts in his home country.
