Jon Lester is one of the most well-known entities in baseball who recently closed the curtain on an immensely decorated career. He was a pitcher and competed in 16 seasons, winning three world series titles. Notably, Jon is also an avid golfer, and to no surprise, he is a Tiger Woods fan as well.
Jon plays golf consistently, and as rumor has it, he is quite a good golfer as well. In a recent podcast, Jon revealed how he got into this wonderful game, while also crediting Tiger Woods for inspiring an entire generation of young players and fans.

Jon Lester reveals how Tiger Woods inspired an entire generation into golf
Before announcing his retirement, Jon Lester appeared on the Beyond The Fairway podcast. When the host asked him about his interest in golf, Jon revealed, “My grandpa was a leftie too, and he loved golf. My dad and my uncles loved golf.” However, he credits Tiger Woods as he believes he got an entire generation to fall in love with this game.

“I think really anybody in our generation got into golf when Tiger Woods took the scene,” Lester said. Undoubtedly, Tiger’s heroics brought immense popularity to the game. “So yeah, I mean that’s when golf became fun, golf became more than just your country club snobby type thing,” concluded Jon.

Notably, Jon is not the first to credit Tiger for golf’s growth. Jon revealed how golf was not always considered as a sport as people tuned in mostly on the last day of major events. But when Tiger arrived, he changed the whole mentality and brought popularity to the sport.

Truly, Tiger Woods revolutionized the game with his incredible golfing skills. He has 82 PGA Tour wins and 15 major championship wins in his career so far. However, Woods is currently recovering from a horrifying solo car crash. And even though he returned to the course at the PNC Championship, Tiger still needs a bit of time to gain the required strength in his leg before coming back on the PGA Tour.
