The 4X major winner is no longer a single golfer on the Tour, as he’s been married since 2017. However, the 31-year-old did have a history of dating other women before he tied the knot with Erica Stoll.

Stoll was born in Irondequoit, New York, and went to West Irondequoit High School, after which she attended the Rochester Institute of Technology. She is passionate about sailing and baking. Moreover, the golfer’s wife also made special cookies for the Ryder Cup when she was working with the PGA before getting married to her soulmate.

Furthermore, the story of McIlroy’s first meeting with his future partner is nothing short of thrilling. The acclaimed golfer overslept and missed his tee time during the 2012 Ryder Cup. The professional then came under fire for his negligence, and it was Stoll who got in touch with him as she was a PGA employee at the time.

The future soulmate came to the rescue and made the necessary arrangements for the golfer to be picked up by the police, who then took him to the course. This was the first moment that the duo had gotten in touch with each other. A fated encounter of sorts, isn’t it?

McIlroy and Stoll got along well soon after their first meeting in 2012. While there isn’t concrete information as to when they began dating, the pair grabbed the limelight when they got engaged in 2015.

The pair tied the knot on April 22, 2017, and welcomed their first child, Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, on August 31, 2020. The happy trio currently resides in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The merry family of three has been spotted a lot of times together on the golf course. One such instance that would remain special in the lives of the three would be the instance when the mother and daughter duo caddied for their professional golfer dad in the par-3 contest ahead of the 2022 Masters Tournament.

Nevertheless, the main aspect of their relationship is that it has always been low-key. The 2014 PGA Championship winner once addressed this fact during an interview with The Independent: “Erica has been around me quite a lot at tournaments, but we have really just tried to keep it low-key—not the kind to broadcast stuff,” said McIlroy, all the while expressing his excitement for his life with his beloved wife and daughter.
