Xander Schauffele has had an eventful 2021 as he clinched the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics earlier this year. Schauffele won the medal for Team USA and his career reached new heights ever since. The 27-year-old is currently in Las Vegas to play the CJ Cup and was bestowed with a huge honor at The Summit Club on Tuesday.

While Xander Schauffele was born in San Diego, California, he currently resides in Vegas. Schauffele spends most of his off days in Vegas, so it has unofficially become his home at the moment. Hence, the CJ Cup @ Summit is the four-time PGA Tour winner’s home tournament.

Xander Schauffele has had a tremendous year overall. He’s reached new heights in his career, and the city of Las Vegas commemorated his achievements with a truly special gift. Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman was present at The Summit Club on Tuesday for a sole reason.

Mayor Goodman was there at the venue to present Xander Schauffele with the key to the city of Las Vegas. The presentation ceremony took place around 4 pm on the 18th green on Tuesday. Schauffele was absolutely delighted about the arrangements and received the key with a big bright smile.

Not everyone in life gets presented with a key to the city they live in. Only trusted individuals who bring honor to the city receive the special accolade. Mayor Goodman was more than happy to present Xander Schauffele with a key to the city and he was so overjoyed that he displayed it to the media during his press conference.

How did Schauffele perform last season?

Xander Schauffele won one of the biggest prizes of his career last season. Winning Olympic gold is a feeling like no other. However, Schauffele did not win any PGA Tour event last season despite making 22 starts.

He finished second thrice, one of which came at the 2020 CJ Cup. Schauffele achieved eight Top 10 finishes and only missed the cut twice in 22 starts. That is incredible consistency.
