Justin Thomas is currently competing at the 2021 Valspar Championship. Thomas has been impressive at Innisbrook Resort but has not been quite effective in contending for the lead. As the 2021 PGA Championship is nearing, Thomas was asked about his early preparations and he delivered a shocking reply.
The 2021 PGA Championship will take place at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island from May 20-23. The world’s best golfers will take the field and compete for the major championship, but Justin Thomas is not too keen about it now.
The PGA Championship is the only major Justin Thomas has won in his career. The Kentucky native won the event back in 2017 when it was held at the Quail Hollow Golf Course. There’s less than a month to go for the 2021 edition of the major, but Thomas hasn’t begun any preparation yet.

“Not too much, because I don’t know the course very well. It’s hard to prep for it if I don’t know the course. I feel like once I get there I’ll be able to do that. But I have a tournament to finish up tomorrow and a course that I love next week in Charlotte, and then an off week to do some prep,” he mentioned.
Justin Thomas opens up about his putting woes
Justin Thomas is one of the most accurate strikers on the PGA Tour. The same can be said about his putting abilities, but he’s currently not finding his rhythm. Thomas is struggling to convert birdies despite ranking first in birdie average this season.
Thomas made only four birdies combined in his first two rounds at the 2021 Valspar Championship. A slightly better effort would have had him contending for the title in the final round, but things didn’t go his way.
“I’m struggling reading the greens. I’m not factoring in the grain enough or I am factoring it in too much, could be over thinking it, I don’t know. I made at least a couple today versus the first two days I literally made nothing — well the first day and yesterday I made absolutely nothing. But, yeah, just having a hard time reading them,” Thomas expressed.
