It is no secret that Jack Nicklaus has the most success when it comes to major championships; especially the Masters. His 22 finishes in the top 10 at the Masters is still an unbroken record. Even for Tiger Woods, who has already broken one of his other records, this one seems highly impossible to overturn.

In his second year as a pro, Woods broke Nicklaus’ record of being the youngest to win the Masters. However, it seems unlikely that he can break the older golfer’s record of the most finishes under the top 10. Interestingly, Nicklaus’s record, 22, is almost the same as the total starts Woods has had at the Masters. He has competed 23 times at the event.

Nicklaus made this record from his 43 starts at the Masters. In his first three years competing as an amateur, the golfer had made it to the top 10 once in 1961. From 1963 to 66, Nicklaus lost only one time to win the title; He was tied for second in 1964.

Furthermore, the golfer has won 6 times at the Masters; He is the only golfer to win the event these many times. Moreover, Nicklaus has created many records at the Augusta National, including the top 5 and top 25 finishes.

Out of all the records he has created at Augusta, the most finishes under the top 10 is the toughest one to break. However, since Woods still hasn’t retired, he stands a chance of creating history. But in all honesty, it seems unlikely, since he only has 14 top 10 finishes from his 23 starts.

The golf world has been asking the same question repeatedly, ever since the officials released the field list for the Masters with Woods’ name on it. Although he hasn’t made a confirmation yet, he was spotted recently at the Augusta. Woods and his son Charlie flew in their private jet to get there.

The last time Woods attended the event was in 2020, in which he secured a tie at 39th position. If he competes in the event this year, it would be the first time he plays in an official tournament in more than a year.
