In fact, Mickelson was 58th on the FedExCup standings before the Northern Trust started. But a poor performance in the event has dropped him all the way to the 70th spot. He’s the last golfer on the ranking who is eligible to play the BMW Championship.

He’s made the cut nine times in 22 starts, which is a sub-par number. Mickelson has added $2,687,724 to his career earnings so far from this season, and he’d be having mixed feelings about his campaign.

A victory at the PGA means a lot. To do it at 50 is an inhuman achievement. However, Mickelson has been largely struggled to maintain consistency which often causes the downfall of his game.
