Phil Mickelson is currently going through a tough time. He hasn’t competed on the PGA Tour since the Farmers Championship in January 2022. However, there is no one else to blame as he criticized the PGA Tour and backed Greg Norman’s rival league. Hence, once these comments went viral on social media, he had to pen an apology letter. However, this apology brought him more criticism.  

Therefore, since then, Mickelson’s fans are waiting for his comeback on the PGA Tour. And this wait will continue as Phil Mickelson won’t be competing on the PGA Tour this week as well. He is not part of the field even though he is eligible to compete in the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play

Phil Mickelson continues to abstain from competing on the PGA Tour

Phil Mickelson played his last professional golf event at the Saudi International, an Asian Tour event that took place in the first week of February 2022. And it’s been around one and a half months since we haven’t seen Mickelson competing in a golf tournament.

This whole saga began when Phil’s statement about PGA Tour went viral. He had criticized the PGA Tour and backed the rival league, which is about to go ahead under the leadership of Greg Norman as LIV Golf Investment. So the 51-year-old golfer is off social media and other stuff and is waiting for things to get back to normal.

However, there is no official statement about his absence or the timeline for his break yet. Moreover, around eight months back, Phil became the oldest golfer to win a major championship. He won the 2021 PGA Championship at the age of 50 at Kiawah Island.

Interestingly, Mickelson hasn’t clarified whether he will be staying with the PGA Tour or joining the rival league. Notably, the Liv Golf Invitational Series is all set to begin from June 9. So it will be interesting to see which players from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour join this series.
