Golf is a sport that is fueled by several rivalries. Over the years, fans have witnessed a lot of entertaining moments – be it on the course or off of it. Bryson DeChambeau has always been a controversial figure in the contemporary game, and his recent beef with Brooks Koepka was one for all the cameras.
While the overhyped rivalry seems to have toned down, both players haven’t forgotten about it. Sure, there was a positive embrace during the Ryder Cup, and the massive announcement about ‘The Match’ is exciting, but DeChambeau does not easily let go of the ghosts from the past.
The 2020 U.S. Open Champion recently appeared on the ‘Full Send’ podcast, where he shed light on various issues, including his toned-down beef with Brooks Koepka. DeChambeau had a say on how it all began.

Was Brooks Koepka right to call out Bryson DeChambeau for ‘slow play?’
The rivalry between DeChambeau and Koepka intensified right after the 2021 PGA Championship. While that incident requires no introduction, the inception of their beef truly does. There is an explanation to it, and who better than DeChambeau to shed light on it?
“He was a di** to me in 2018 but it was just over the slow play stuff that happened. I took a long time for a putt, but it’s because other guys were in the fairway and we had time. It’s like okay i’m not gonna go because we’re just gonna be waiting on the next tee, and we normally do that,” DeChambeau explained.

“Whatever, that happens and the golf world goes crazy because I took like two minutes to hit a putt and I backed off of it once or twice or whatever and that was when I was definitely slower. I’ve improved that since then, but yeah I mean he took a shot at me,” he added.
Bryson DeChambeau left no stone unturned when talking about what started his beef with Brooks Koepka. He further went on to explain when the ‘Brooksy’ chants really picked up during golf tournaments.
