The Player Impact Program or PIP was introduced last year by the PGA Tour. The idea of the program was to reward the golfers who would enhance fans’ and sponsors’ engagement with the sport. However, the organization is yet to announce the winner officially. And this has sent the golf world up in a frenzy, wondering who won the money after all; legend Tiger Woods or self-proclaimed winner Phil Mickelson?
Now, this new Twitter post from golf writer Rex Hoggard has golf fans around the world restless.
In other Mickelson news, some players have been told that Tiger, not Phil, won last year's Player Impact Program. Still no official word but another hit for Team Lefty.

Did Phil Mickelson win the PIP money?
The PGA had announced $40 million for the top 10 golfers who could attract the fans and sponsors towards the sport through PIP. The ‘impact score’ and other factors, including the MVP Index, were the determining factors to find the first, second, and other prizes.
While the PGA kept mum, an American golfer, Brad Faxon, revealed that Mickelson was the winner. He explained that he heard the rumor that Phil won the first prize and the $10 million reward. Later, Mickelson announced himself as the winner through his social media. Even Golf Digest’s Daniel Rapaport confirmed the news by sharing more information about the PIP winners.

According to Rapaport, Mickelson had won the first prize and won $8 million as prize money. And Tiger Woods won $6 million as the second prize. Later, even Charlie Hoffman, the former chairman of the Player’s Advisory Council of PGA, confirmed the news through his Twitter.
However, until an official statement is made by the PGA, nothing can be said for sure.
Twitter reacts to Tiger Woods winning the 2021 PIP money instead of Lefty
The players seem to hate the fact that Phil treats spectators with respect therefore accenting their shortcomings in that dept . They’d prefer guys like Tiger , Jason Day , Horschel who treat paying customers like trash . I’ll take Phil thank you

Is this one of many things Phil prob mad abt w PGA Tour? What did Tiger do specifically last yr to earn that. As much as Phil disappoints me now, did he not deserve it more? no strong opinion, just asking is all.

I don’t remember who said it yesterday on here, but they should write the 1st place PIP check to Tiger every year and add a zero to the end of the check and it still probably wouldn’t be enough to pay for his impact throughout his career.

I can see Phil not winning but Tiger doesn’t deserve it….

Many gave their opinion on why they think either Phil or Tiger deserves or does not deserve the PIP winner title. And some fans took the opportunity to talk about who they think should have won the PIP.
It’s actually shocking they @maxhoma23 isn’t getting this. I’m on golf Twitter a lot and Phil will like flex his calves and somehow that’s going towards growing the game? Max Homa engaging with fans. Roasting and showing a different informal version of the game is more impactful
